If you’re planning to take the GMAT soon, there are some changes you should know about. As of Tues., June 5, 2012, a new section will be included called Integrated Reasoning.
The new 30-minute section is designed to measure your ability to evaluate information presented in multiple formats from multiple sources. According to MBA.com, the skills being tested were identified in a survey of 740 management faculty around the world as important for incoming students and are ones that “you already use, and skills that you will need to succeed in our data-rich world.”
Also changing is the Analytical Writing Assessment which will be reduced from two essays in 60 minutes to one “analysis of an argument” essay in 30 minutes. The Integrated Reasoning section will begin immediately after the essay question. The total testing time of the GMAT will remain the same at three hours and 30 minutes.
If you’ve already taken the GMAT, rest assured that we’ll continue to accept scores from either format, as GMAT scores are valid for five years. All applicants to Wharton’s EMBA program must take the GMAT – there are no exceptions! To learn more about our admissions requirements, click here.
