Wharton Executive MBA second year students from both the East and West programs have returned from their International Seminar trips. In September the Philadelphia class visited Shanghai while the San Francisco class went to Rio de Janeiro and Buenos Aires. The international seminar marks the culmination of a semester-long examination into how business firms develop and implement strategy in a competitive global context.
The West Coast EMBA class enjoyed a busy week covering two South American business hubs in Brazil and Argentina. Visit included presentations and tours at Standard and Poors, KPMG, HP Embraer, Google, Turner, GE, Pernod Ricard, Intel Capital, Natura, Microsoft, Tnaris, Unilever, Dr. Domingo Vacalia and BCG.
The East Coast class spent a week in Shanghai participating in corporate visits and cultural exchanges. Students attended presentations with representatives from over 30 companies including Hunan Report, Porsche China, Citigroup, Estee Lauder, 3M, GM Rohm & Haas, Best Buy, IBM, Bombardier, DHL and Yumi Restaurants. Other highlights of the week included an alumni dinner and extended side trips to the Great Wall of China, the Terra Cotta Warriors in Xian, and Tibet.
Already the votes are in for September 2008! The East Coast MBA Exec students will travel to Russia, making it a first as a destination, and the West students will be going to Shanghai .
