We are excited to share a new academic offering for Wharton Executive MBA students: the Artificial Intelligence for Business major. As the role of AI continues to expand across industries and geographies, Wharton is staying at the forefront by giving EMBA students the opportunity to build meaningful expertise in one of the most transformative technologies of our time.
While majors are not required in the Executive MBA program, students may choose to pursue one by completing four additional credit units in a focused area. Additional major offerings include Entrepreneurship & Innovation, Finance, Management, Marketing & Operations Management, and Strategic Management.
What the AI Major Covers
This AI major is structured to give executive students both a technical foundation in AI methods and a strategic perspective on its broader implications. The curriculum is built around two pillars:
- Foundations of AI in Business
Courses in this pillar develop the fundamental skills needed to understand, work with, and evaluate AI systems. Topics may include data science, statistics, machine learning, data engineering, and even neuroscience. - Impact and Ethical Implications of AI in Business
These courses explore the wider business, economic, legal, and societal consequences of AI deployment, from regulatory challenges to ethical decision-making and organizational change.
By bridging these two dimensions, the major empowers EMBA students to lead with both technical literacy and principled judgment in an AI-powered world.
