Campus History

Just a block from the iconic Bay Bridge, Wharton San Francisco is located in the heart of the South of Market (SoMa) district, which is rapidly becoming known as one of the foremost centers for innovation in the e-commerce/social media/gaming space. Many of the largest and fastest growing U.S. companies are headquartered in San Francisco — and it’s no wonder, considering it’s been rated as having the highest quality of living of any U.S. city.

Wharton students come to our San Francisco campus from across the country and around the globe, forming a diverse but close-knit community in which it’s easy to make friends quickly. One of the nation’s most walkable cities, San Francisco covers less than 50 square miles with a distinct international character and numerous culturally rich neighborhoods to explore.

Campus Resources

Occupying a 37,000 square-foot space on the sixth floor of the iconic Hills Brothers Plaza, Wharton’s San Francisco campus offers panoramic bay views of the city’s eastern waterfront and close proximity to some of the world’s biggest technology companies. This technologically advanced academic facility is designed for blended learning and includes state-of-the art classrooms, a library lounge, a stunning dining space and gathering area, group study rooms, and faculty and administrative offices.

Classrooms

Hills Plaza amphitheater-style classrooms are designed to deliver the leading-edge, technology-rich environment that is a hallmark of the Wharton School, and incorporate HD video conferencing and immersive communications capabilities for broadcasts of networking events, speaker series, and classes. This advanced technology empowers Wharton San Francisco to achieve an unprecedented level of interactive, real-time outreach and engagement across the three cohorts and with the business community in the United States and abroad.

Common Areas

San Francisco cohort executive students attend classes, study, and dine together — regular interactions that foster a tightly-knit community. As comfortable, attractive spaces for informal meetings, the Hills Plaza Lobby and Dining Hall areas promote socializing and networking, and facilitate the formation of close professional and personal bonds. Offering spectacular views of the Embarcadero and the Bay Bridge, the impressive 2,500 square-foot Dining Hall serves food locally sourced within a 100-mile radius of San Francisco.

With bar-height tables, booths, and couches, the facility’s wide hallways and open lounges promote networking among faculty and students and foster an environment of collaborative learning and teamwork.

Faculty Spaces

Top Wharton faculty travel from Philadelphia to San Francisco each week to teach MBA Program for Executives courses, ensuring that San Francisco cohort students receive the undiluted Wharton MBA experience and degree. The faculty spaces accommodate visiting faculty’s research and teaching activities, providing them with all the resources they need to develop and disseminate new knowledge.

Group Study and Conference Rooms

A signature advantage of the Wharton MBA Program for Executives is the opportunity for students to interact closely with classmates — extraordinary men and women from diverse backgrounds and fields — through learning teams, group projects, and out-of-classroom interactions. The group study rooms encourage collaboration and facilitate group work, key to the learning methods pioneered by Wharton.
